Geld (“Geld”, “we”, “us”) is a personal expense and income tracker for iOS and Android. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and the choices you have. Geld is operated by Ezra Gunn. We can be reached at ezraworking@gmail.com.
| Category | Examples | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account information | Name, email address, and profile photo URL provided when you sign in with Apple, Google, or email & password | To create and secure your account |
| Financial records you enter | Transaction amounts, categories, notes, dates, default currency, budgets and goals | This is the core function of the app |
| Purchase status | Whether you’ve unlocked Geld Plus (the one-time in-app purchase) | To unlock paid features across your devices |
| Usage & analytics | In-app events (e.g. screens viewed, a transaction logged, paywall viewed), app-instance identifier, coarse device model, OS version, language and region | To understand and improve the app |
| Diagnostics | Crash reports and performance/non-fatal error data, including device and OS information | To find and fix bugs |
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos library, health data, browsing history, or any advertising identifier (no IDFA / Android Advertising ID). The actual payment for Geld Plus is processed by Apple or Google — we never see or store your card or bank details.
If you use Face ID / Touch ID / fingerprint sign-in, your last email credential is stored encrypted on your device only (iOS Keychain / Android EncryptedSharedPreferences) and is never transmitted to us.
For users in the EEA/UK, our legal bases are performance of our contract with you (providing the app), your consent (where required for analytics), and our legitimate interests (security and product improvement).
We use Google Firebase to run Geld. Acting as our processors on Google Cloud infrastructure, the following Firebase services handle the data above on our behalf: Authentication, Cloud Firestore (your transactions and profile), Analytics, Crashlytics, App Check and Remote Config. Sign-in is provided by Apple (Sign in with Apple) and Google (Google Sign-In). In-app purchases are processed by Apple’s App Store and Google Play Billing. These providers process data under their own privacy terms and only to deliver these services to us — not for their own independent purposes. We do not share your data with anyone else, and we never sell it.
Your data is stored on Google Cloud servers operated by Google on our behalf. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile document and all of your transactions are permanently removed (see below). Aggregated analytics that can no longer identify you may be retained.
Depending on where you live (e.g. under GDPR or the CCPA), you may have additional rights, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Geld is not directed to children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Access to your data is restricted to your authenticated account by server-side security rules — no other user can read or write your records. We use Firebase App Check to help ensure only the genuine Geld app can talk to our backend. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
